Hello Bobcat Nation!

Hey guys! My name is Emily Nelson. I am a sophomore here at Pitt Greensburg and I wear number 2! I am a Psychology major here. I am so lucky to play with such a great group of girls. We are more than just a team we are a family. I don’t know where I would be without any of them!  Tomorrow is our last game before Christmas break. It is crazy the first semester is just about over! The Bobkitties plan to finish the first semester with a big win against Penn State Altoona and come back for the semester even better and stronger!

Bobkitty Nation!

Hi everyone my name is Chianti Sivek and I am a sophomore here at Pitt Greensburg.   I am wearing #23 and currently studying criminal justice.  The bobkitties aren’t just a team to me, they are my family and I wouldn’t have been able to get through the past year without them!

Throughout life I have learned that there going to be obstacles put in your way to try and make you or break you but is your decision what the outcome is going to be.

Many people say great things happen to those who wait.  That is false because great things happen to people who go out and work for what they want and deserve, and that is what the Bobkitties are going to do!

One mind. One heart. One family

Freshman Year #32

Hey guys! I am Sylvia Stuart a freshman at Pitt-Greensburg. My number is 32! After changing my major three times (as a freshman) Megan convinced me that communications would probably be my best bet! So I will be majoring in communication! Unfortunately I got a season ending injury on the last day of preseason. (Suicides were never really my thing)  Although I am unable to play this year I will be serving as the team's manager! Pitt Greensburg is a great school with so much to offer which is why I'm glad I chose it. This was actually the only school I looked at and the only one I visited! After my over night with the girls I was like oh yeah sign me up! Since then we have been growing our bonds and have gotten closer and closer!

The transition between high school and college has been a different experience. The main change for me is the amount of work you have to do. Now that its nearing finals week and my surgery date, everything has started getting stressful. I know that with the support of my girls and both coaches that I will get through it no problem! I just have to stay positive as everyone tells me. The team is definitely my family! I have been fortunate to have a very close high school team and coming here we are all just as close. Everyone on this team has a different personality but we all mesh well and have great bonds both on the court and off! Not playing with them this season has definitely been rough but I'm so glad I get to be there for everything and support them  (which includes filling bottles, holding inhalers, and feeding Amanda bananas before the games)

I guess we could call this a learning year for me. I now have insight on what college basketball is really like. I look forward to recovering and coming back better, faster, and stronger then I came. (which means doing every single thing in the summer workout packet...EVERYTHING!) With the support system I have, I know that I will come back better then ever! I cant wait to help my girls out next year and watch them do big things this year! Meow.

What is Bobcat Basketball?

Hello Bobcat fans,

My name is Brittany Butterworth. I am a junior on the team wearing lucky #13. Over the seasons I learned what the real meaning behind the uniform was. It's being part of a family something bigger than yourself. Family isn't always blood. It's the people in your life who want you in theirs; the ones who accept you for who you are. The ones who would do anything to see you succeed, tell you how it is, fight for you, and most importantly love you. I'm so proud to call these people my family.

And this family is ABOUT TO GET SOME SLIGHT WORK DONE!!! (bonbon)

Freshman Year! #42

Hey guys! I'm Casey Hamilton and I'm a freshman at Pitt-Greensburg. I'll be wearing number 42 this year. My major is Pre-Engineering and I love Pitt-Greensburg, it was definitely the best choice for me!

I'm so glad I have chosen to play basketball here. I love all the girls so much! The school work is still pretty easy to manage even while playing basketball. Playing a sport in college has also helped me manage my time a lot better too!

Right now we're on our way to Maryland to play Frostburg! Our record right now is 1-2, but hopefully we can bring home a win today!

I'm so excited to continue playing with this group of girls, and I'm thankful that I have such great teammates to help me out my freshmen year!

Junior Year! 25

Hello! My name is Megan Hans AKA Mama. I am a junior here at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg wearing number 25. I am proud Communication Major and hope to minor in computer science.

We had our tip-off tournament and came home 1-1, which we have never done before. Everyone played extremely hard and became very close on the team. To be successful and get where we want to be, we have to work hard everyday and come in with a winning attitude.

Junior Year! - #11

Hello everyone!

My name is Courtney DiBridge and I am currently entering my junior season as a member of the Pitt-Greensburg Women's Basketball team. I am an education major with a minor in psychology. I am so excited to begin this journey with my fellow bobkitties this year. I have extremely high expectations for us this coming season.

It has been great expanding upon our "family" here and all the freshman have adjusted well to the college atmosphere! I'm very proud of my teammates as we pushed through our preseason and begin to work towards the ultimate goal of winning a championship. We have an extremely talented group and I am so excited to get out there and play with all my absolute best friends.

We look forward to opening our season VERY soon!

I could not ask for a better group of girls to surround myself with. I wouldn't trade any one of my teammates for the world. We all have become so close and it is amazing to think how much we have grown since my freshman year here at Pitt-Greensburg.

Freshman Year!

Hi everyone! My name is Carly Baer. I am a freshman this year at Pitt-Greensburg. I will be wearing #22! I am majoring in Management-Accounting. So far, I love college! Pitt-Greensburg is definitely the perfect school for me.

It is a tough transition from high school classes to college classes, but they are all going really well for me! Being away from home is the hardest part of college, but I am getting used to it. The basketball team has become my second family and now Pitt-Greensburg is my home away from home. We are all great friends both on and off the court.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to practice for about the past three weeks due to an injury to my feet. At practice, I participate in shooting drills and run the shot clock. I should be back on the court soon and I cannot wait! The girls have all been working extremely hard and I feel that we will have a very successful season.

New Experiences

Hi, my name is Lyndy Baer.  I am a freshman here at Pitt-Greensburg.  This year I will be wearing #15.  I am a Math major with a minor in Actuarial Sciences.  My college experience has been pretty good so far! It is definitely a huge change from what I am used to.

My classes have all been manageable so far this semester.  I really learned how to manage my time while being here.  I really love the campus here! It is really pretty and small which I prefer.  Being away from home a lot is difficult for me, but the girls on the team are so great and make me forget about my homesickness!

Becoming a part of this basketball program has been a great experience.  College basketball is a lot different than high school!  All of the older girls are doing a good job getting us freshman into the system.  I appreciate everything they do for me!

Overall, this college experience has been a big change for me.  But I don't think I would have been able to get through it without my teammates!  We all get along so well on and off the court. I can't wait for our games to get started!

The Start of a New Beginning!!!!!

Hello everyone, my name is Lindsey McKamish. I am a junior here at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg wearing number 10. I am an Early Childhood Education Major with a Minor in Psychology. The start of school has been great thus far! I cannot even believe it is the end of October already! This year is going by so fast and I cannot believe that our first game is only less than 3 weeks away.

We had an amazing pre-season as a team. We are all working hard and I can tell our hard work is going to pay off! We had our first official practice October 15th at midnight! It was an amazing way to kick off our season. We had our first scrimmage against Seton Hill a week ago! We played extremely hard which we always do! We have our next scrimmage in a week from tomorrow against Bethany!

Off the court, our team is extremely close. I love every girl on this bobcat team! We go out to team dinners, team movies, and even just hang out in the dorm rooms together. Last night the coaches surprised the whole team with taking us to a Haunted Farm!!!! It was the most fun I have had in a while. We all were together laughing, and screaming the whole night. I believe that every time we hang out we continue to grow closer and closer. This is going to help us both on and off the court.

I am so excited for our first game and cannot wait to see the continue success our team will have this upcoming season!!!

PROJECT BUNDLE-UP

Yesterday, we joined Captain Pamela Rhodes of the Greensburg Salvation Army to help with “Project Bundle-Up”. A program that serves needy and disabled senior citizens and disadvantaged children, ranging from infant to teens, “Project Bundle-Up” provides those in need with winter outwear. Eligibility for the program is based on economic need, and vouchers are used to obtain winter coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and boots for participants.

For the fourth year in a row, our players and coaching staff headed to Greensburg Wal-Mart to take children and senior citizens on personal shopping sprees, explain vouchers to families, and help cashiers bag purchases. “Project Bundle-Up” is just one of the wonderful programs and services offered by the Greensburg Salvation Army, which has been serving our local community since 1903.

National RAINN DAY

Over the course of this past week, all Pitt-Greensburg students had the opportunity to participate in numerous events that comprised "Safety Week". One of these events, National RAINN Day, took place yesterday, Thursday, September 26. RAINN Day, hosted by RAINN, the nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization, is seen as a day of action to raise awareness and educate students about sexual violence on college campuses. Campuses that participate are asked to design a program for their campus community that will motivate their students and staff to take a stand against sexual violence. The ultimate goal of the program is to empower college students to educate their peers about risk reduction and recovery resources on their own campus.

Pitt-Greensburg students were asked to decorate umbrellas showing their support for RAINN and their decision to take a stand against sexual violence. After researching RAINN to learn more about the organization, including the shocking fact that every two minutes someone in the United States is a victim of sexual assault, our team decided to participate in RAINN Day. I am very proud of their decision to take a stand against sexual assault, even though it means I will be finding glitter and rhinestones in my office for the next five years.

Recruiting, Summer League & SOAR 2...OH MY!

It's certainly hard to believe that tomorrow is July 1st! Most of our Bobcats have been home for the summer making money, relaxing, and of course...working hard to prepare for next season. Morgan and Brittany, however, stayed in Greensburg for the summer to work and take a class, so Coach Waters and I have seen them quite a bit! Over the course of this past week, though, we managed to see almost all of our Bobcats.

The week started with us returning from three days out in Hershey, PA for a USJN event. On Tuesday, we headed down to the Market House in Pittsburgh to see our returning players and Casey play in a summer league game. On Thursday and Friday, we welcomed three members of our recruiting class to campus for SOAR 2. When Brook, Casey, and Sylvia left on Friday afternoon, it officially meant all the new members of our Bobcat family were registered for classes for the Fall!! Today, Coach and I headed out to the Hollidaysburg YMCA to watch Carly and Lyndy in their summer league games. Sarah had her graduation party today, so she wasn't able to make the games.

Tomorrow starts the beginning of a crazy month for us, as Coach and I will spend the majority of it in gyms throughout PA and DC working to secure our next class of Bobcats! Each year I wonder if I'll survive July simply because I'm afraid between my OCD, perfect driving skills, and wonderful singing/rapping, Coach may actually kill me. As long as she can find her new concession stand favorite (courtesy of Central Dauphin High School), though, I bet we'll both survive...

We'll be sure to check in again soon. Until then, we hope all of our families, friends, and fans are enjoying their summers!! Before any of us know it, you'll be back in the stands cheering on your Bobcats!!

Office Hours...

Here at Pitt-Greensburg, you never can tell what will go on during office hours. Today, for example, we caught GNOMUS trying to make a twitter.

I guess we're all looking forward to some excitement...which is why Coach and I can't wait for Thursday when three of our frosh will be hear for SOAR 1. It's hard to believe that it's already time for the first group of incoming students to schedule classes. It will be October 15th before we know it....

Coach Eaton's normal reaction to anything we say...

KRAZY KITTIES.

Each year, I am the "lucky" recipient of a large number of picture messages that serve as a daily reminder of how ridiculous our team actually is. I mostly blame Coach Waters for this, as I believe her absurdness starts rubbing off on the players as soon as they arrive to campus. Some may argue with that theory, but I’m sticking with it. Anyway, after an iPhone deletion scare that resulted in me losing most of these pictures, a few members of the team have helped me re-compile quite the selection.

So here they are -- some of the “best” off the court moments from 2012-13.
Seriously...who wouldn't want to be a part of this??

Smile...it's GAME DAY!!
